This quote is from American Forest’s Tree Equity Score mapping tool.
Trees are critical infrastructure that are essential to public health and well-being. Tree Equity Score was created to help address damaging environmental inequities by prioritizing human-centered investment in areas with the greatest need.
Unfortunately, Superior doesn’t even have data on the map. We know we need more trees in our community so we’ve prioritized tree planting as part of our resilient homes offering.
We partnered with a great tree guy a few towns over who is a leader in the state when it comes to tall pot trees. This method ensures a long strong root for the tree thereby increasing the likelihood of success when they’re transplanted
We made a list of native trees that he knows do well in our climate that we bring to residents to make a selection of the three trees they want. All of these trees are drought adapted and will provide significant shade, and in most cases, food as well.
We can use a timer, irrigation lines, and water we collect from our Rain Water Harvesting infrastructure to make it easy for the resident to keep their trees happy.
